Is there a deposit needed to book?
Yes. In order to secure your date, there is a non-refundable $300 deposit. The rest of your balance will be due one month before your wedding date. I also require a signed contract from you before your date is secured.
Will you travel all of the way to (fill in the blank)?
I am always willing to travel! And I don't charge a travel fee (most photographers do). I only charge for gas reimbursement. If you are asking me to travel 3 hours or more (from Corvallis), I require a hotel fee. Don't worry, I won't stay at the Ritz ;) I have found that starting a 3 hour + road trip at 10pm is never a good idea after a long day.
What does the consultation look like?
I offer a free consultation, even if you are still unsure about hiring me. THAT'S OKAY. Getting to meet your photographer face-to-face is very important before hiring them. We discuss any questions you have for me, and I take you through what I have to offer you. This is also when I can get certain details about your big day and important things I need to capture for you. All of my examples and portfolios are online so I have nothing extra to show you at the consultation regarding that. I prefer to meet in Corvallis but am willing to travel up to 20 miles at no cost to meet with you. Phone consultations are okay too. Oh, and did I mention? Coffee is on me ;)
Would you recommend a second shooter?
Yes! I have a network of wonderful photographers that I hire to join me in capturing your special day. It brings more creativity, more angles, and of course more photos! For example, in important moments like a first look, or the moment he sees his bride walking down the aisle, we can capture the expressions from both of you.
Do you have full albums I can see?
I do! Galleries > Full Wedding Albums
Can I show you my Pinterest board so you have an idea of what I want?
Absolutely! Share it with me:
My Pinterest name is: AbbedabbyNelson
I don't know if I am allowing enough time for certain photos. Can you tell me how long formal photos will take?
Let's discuss it. Take me through your schedule and we can talk about what timing is best. This usually happens during a consultation.
How many of the photos are edited/retouched? And how many will I receive?
All of the photos I return to you are retouched/edited, even if just slightly. On average, you will receive around 100 photos per hour of coverage. Sometimes more. I have yet to hear any feedback that my clients did not receive enough photos. And, of course, if you request the second photographer, you will get even more!
Can I hire another photographer besides Heartstrings Photography to get more photos?
Unfortunately, no. This is why I offer a second shooter. Things can get pretty scattered and frustrating for me as your hired photographer if there is another photographer trying to do my job. It is also in the contract that if you hire HSP, that's your only photography coverage. Of course, guests taking photos is fine with me, as long as it isn't your semi-professional cousin taking photos over my shoulder during formal photos.
Photo Shoots & Events:
How many outfits/locations can I include?
As many as you would like. Just be aware of your time. You are paying for the time, and you can do whatever you'd like with that time. Obviously, the more outfits/locations you choose, the less photos you will end up with.
What if I need more than an hour?
90 minute shoot: $190
2 hour shoot: $230
What if there are specific shots I want you to get during my event?
Yes! Please let me know everything you want me to capture. YOU are the one that has purchased your package and I want to capture everything you might want. I want to do everything I can to make sure you LOVE your photos.
I'm really nervous and not used to being in front of the camera.
I TOTALLY understand that. Even still, getting on the other side of the camera is nerve-racking for me. I am outgoing and love to just have fun with it and do my best to make it fun for you as well. I promise it won't be as scary as it seems. I do my best to make you as comfortable in front of the camera as possible. Something that helps is bringing a friend that you feel comfortable around.
